The Almond Grove Project consists of a multi-phase project that rehabilitates a historic neighborhood in the Town of Los Gatos. The first phase included the rehabilitation of Broadway (between West Main Street and South Santa Cruz Avenue), and Bachman Avenue (between Glen Ridge Avenue and North Santa Cruz Avenue). The second phase of the project includes the rehabilitation of the remaining eight streets within the Almond Grove Historic District.
Twining provided geotechnical services on Phase 1 and Phase 2 on this street rehabilitation project. The rehabilitation consists of removal and replacement of all sidewalks, curb, gutter, driveways and accessibility ramps, and the removal and replacement of the concrete in sections. In addition to performing geotechnical investigations, Twining is also providing pavement evaluation and recommendations for rehabilitation.
Effectiveness of our Team
Twining’s concrete expert worked together with the Town and contractor at a pivotal point during the construction of the project. Pockets were collapsing due to issues with the diamond dowel system. Twining analyzed the situation to provide analysis. It was determined that extra care needed to be taken by the contractor. We worked with the contractor to figure it out a better approach and the rest of the project went smoothly, with no more collapsed pockets.
